How to choose industrial kitchen equipment for a commercial kitchen in Nigeria

A practical checklist for hotels, restaurants and institutions planning a new kitchen or an upgrade.

How to choose industrial kitchen equipment for a commercial kitchen in Nigeria

Buying commercial kitchen equipment is a long-term investment. The right choices reduce running costs, improve food safety and keep service fast; the wrong ones lead to breakdowns and expensive replacements. Here is the checklist our engineers use.

1. Start with the menu and volumes

List your dishes, peak covers per hour and production methods. A busy staff canteen needs bratt pans and boiling pans; a hotel restaurant may benefit most from a combi oven that steams, roasts and bakes in one footprint.

2. Check your energy supply

Decide between gas and electric equipment based on supply reliability, generator capacity and running cost. Many of our ranges, fryers and ovens are available in both versions.

3. Plan the workflow

Arrange the kitchen in a logical flow: receiving and storage, preparation, cooking, service and dishwashing. Separate raw and cooked areas and keep washing away from service.

4. Choose hygienic materials

Stainless steel work tables, sinks and shelving are easier to clean and last far longer in humid conditions.

5. Size refrigeration correctly

Undersized refrigeration is one of the most common problems we see. Combine upright cabinets, under-counter units at each station and, for larger operations, a walk-in cold room.

6. Don't forget extraction

A correctly sized hood over the cooking line protects staff and equipment and keeps the kitchen comfortable.

7. Insist on installation and training

Correct installation and operator training are what make equipment last. At Imetimex every installation includes commissioning and staff training, followed by a maintenance plan.
